Birds of LTAV

 by Jade B.

At LTAV in the winter of 2023-2024 the school has had many bird sightings. The first bird sighting was a common House Sparrow. You can see these birds about anywhere in Southern California in just about any time. But just in case you don’t know the bird, they are a small brown bird and the males have a little black below their beak.

Our next bird is a Mountain Blue bird, they are small but usually plump blue birds that have vibrant blue feathers. These birds migrate to southern California in the winter where they will make their nest.

Last but not least is the Rufous Hummingbird. The females are green with a white belly. The males are orange with black tipped wings, and they have shiny orange feathers on their chest that they use to attract females. Like the Mountain Blue Bird, they migrate to southern California in the winter. So come to LTAV and you might see some of these beautiful birds up close!
