Reading Class Overview

Taught by Joy Densford, LTAV provides a reading class for 2nd-12 where the class reads books together, grasp advanced vocabulary words, analyze character, plot line, etc. In addition to all of that, at the end of each book, Ms. Joy opens her house for her students to all watch the movie(s) that are based on the books.

During 2022, the 2nd-5th class, otherwise labeled upper-elementary class, read Charlotte's Web by E. B. White, several of the Dragon Masters books by Tracy West, and Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osbourne. This year, 2023, they are reading books from the Beezus and Ramona series by Beverly Cleary.

Last year, the 6th-12th class read The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis, and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, which happens to be the teacher's favorite science-fiction book.
